Thermometer Thursday :-(
We usually send a weekly activity and events update on Fridays, however we’re going to publish early this week, as a couple of 1Quest2theNext authors have come down with the flu or similar today. This definitely alters weekend plans filled with hikes, runs, lacrosse clinic and more. Hopefully all the kids are ok Monday so we can head out to Schmitt’s Family Farm bright and early before the crowds hit to get their pumpkins!
Sickness has been passing through the house all week and I hope that’s not the case where you are, 1Quest2theNext readers. Because there are some great fall events and things to do this weekend.
Tomorrow night, hit the beach one last time in 2013 for some Star Gazing at Jones Beach. For our adult friends, if you are up for a great long activity visit Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve for a long and hilly 6 mile hike (that’s where I’d be if the kids weren’t ill).
There’s also the Montauk Fall Festival all weekend. Seafood, music, a carousel, face painting and on Saturday only there is a Clam Chowder contest. Get there early as last year we went late morning and missed the chowder!
Sunday afternoon you can check out native owls, falcons and hawks at the Springbriar Nature Center. Check our Upcoming events calendar for a complete list of activities that have peaked our interest for this weekend and the next (the latter of which includes the Oyster Bay Oyster Festival – one of our favorites!).
As we sweat out the sickness in our home, the least we can do is share some pics from the 2012 Montauk Fall Festival. Take your vitamins and have a great holiday weekend!
